"What can I do to help? "
We’ve heard that phrase a lot lately. It seems to come naturally from people as we are bombarded with news about the devastating effects of the Coronavirus that is ravaging every nation in the world. But along with observing social distancing rules and pandemic-safe practices, is there actually anything you can do?
Actually, there is.
The daily Morning Brew newsletter I subscribe to recently listed a wide variety of places you can donate your time, support and/or money to during the pandemic.
The options in the article vary widely. Some are massive projects like the CDC’s Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund which has already raised $236 million in donations from 633,000 donors, companies and philanthropic groups, or the Gates Foundation which targets the development of therapeutics to defend against the virus. Numerous major charities are mentioned, the R. ...

Tomorrow, July 31st, is the deadline for the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) program to end, unless congress decides to do something to extend or re-structure it. If not, upwards of about 30 million unemployed Americans who are receiving benefits will lose $600 per week. What does this mean?
For one, a lot more people renting a place to live will be screwed.
The percentage of renter households facing a severe housing burden will increase from about 3 percent of renter households to 41 percent. (Severely housing burdened means they are paying more than 50 percent of their income toward rent.)
Add to this the fact that the federally mandated evictions moratorium on is also set to expire soon. The combination of these two events bodes ill for millions of Americans who are already under significant stress. Expect a sharp spike in evictions in the next few months, putting ma. ...

Second quarter home sales reportedly hit the predicted slump, but were high enough to suggest Q3 numbers may surge. Hudson Valley real estate brokers struggled with restrictions to battle the coronavirus pandemic in New York State, during Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s “New York on Pause” process. Agents were forced to conduct business online and show homes virtually. New York State permitted notary services online and attorneys conducted business in parking lots, in tents and between cars.
According to the July report by OneKey™ Multiple Listing Service LLC, home sales were down 39.8% in the Bronx; 27.9% and 27.4% in Orange and Westchester counties respectively, and 6.2% lower in Putnam County, as compared to Q2 of last year.
The report concluded that although sales in the second quarter were down, "real estate brokerage executives believe that since the home sales market entered the . ...

We'd like to know how your housing needs have changed recently and what you plan on doing about it. The lifestyles of many many people have been altered significantly by pandemic rules. The home you own may not be as accommodating as it once was - its size, layout and location may no longer "fit."
Think about how the the Covid-19 pandemic has changed your idea of a functional home. For example, are you struggling with school aged kids and find yourself needing extra room for your suddenly always-at-home family? Are you trying to figure out a place to home-school the kids in your existing home?
Have you discovered that working from home is more productive than you thought? Can a different home setup allow you to somehow keep. ...

Starbucks just joined the #StopHateforProfit movement today, so did we, (#globalpropertysystems,) by suspending our July advertising on Facebook and all other social media in protest of allowing hate speech. Here's why you should too.
The movement's website stophateforprofit.org cites numerous examples of how Facebook has allowed hate speech on it's platform, including:
"They allowed incitement to violence against protesters fighting for racial justice in America in the wake of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, Rayshard Brooks and so many others.
They named Breitbart News a “trusted news source” and made The Daily Caller a “fact checker” despite both publications having records of working with known white nationalists.
They turned a blind eye to blatant voter suppression on their platform."
StopHateforProfit.com points out that putting a dent in Fa. ...
