Many homeowners are reluctant to pay a stranger to change their home's interior. Either they don't want to spend the money or they feel insulted that someone thinks their taste isn't good enough. As the Times article below points out, staging a house by changing its furniture and interior decor has been around for years. But recently, the practice has changed dramatically. It used to be that a stager would concentrate on de-cluttering a home, or change a few pieces of furniture to make it more current and less dated. These days, stagers are designers who bring in whole households of furniture, and bring out an entirely new look for a property. In this case, it really paid off!
