Coping with Sheltering at Home
As Realtors, we are in the home business. Finding a home that meets people's needs and provides the most basic kind of shelter is what we do. So right now, a lot of people may be going a little bit batty in theirs.
Under the "Lockdown" a lot of people are spending much more time in their homes with family than they normally do. For some, this may lead to re-connecting with loved-ones. For others, this extra contact time will cause strife and stress. Spouses and kids can drive you nuts!
To manage this situation, people need to learn how to cope with being close to some yet distanced from the rest of their world. One coping response is eating. We've heard of the Corona 15, the extra 15 pounds we would gain because we cope with stress by eating comfort food or junk snacks. (Junk food manufacturers reported a 5% jump in snack sales for the month of March.)
We've heard from several people that living in these troubled times has been difficult. There's a good webinar being broadcast tomorrow by personal relationships coach Rich Heller. Rich is speaking about creating new traditions to create stability in these altered times tomorrow, April 16 at 1:00 Eastern Time, on behalf of Saavy Ladies, the not for profit that is committed to greater financial literacy for women. The the event is also open to the public, and is free.
